On December 31, 2006, President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and Mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava paid a visit to Freedom Square Station. They toured the newly renovated station, the upper and lower vestibules of which had been decorated with New Year Trees and toys for the New Year Day.
