By the decision of Tbilisi Municipality, from March 1, 2008 pupils and students will get significant benefits during traveling by subway.

For pupils of secondary schools located in Tbilisi traveling by the subway will be free of charge, and for students of higher educational institutions and professional teaching centers a discount 0f 50% will be offered.

For ensuring the benefits for students, red tokens with the value of 20 tetri have been issued for the subways, which will be granted at the cash offices on the basis of submitting the student’s card. For using the red tokens there is one automatic control unit, second from the controller’s booth, in every station.

For ensuring the free traveling of school pupils, there is one automatic control unit, next to the controller’s booth, in every station. Upon submitting the pupil’s card, a controller will provide the pupil with free crossing of an automatic control unit.

Thus, from March 1, 2008 3 colors of tokens will be used for the payment of the subway traveling fee (together with the plastic cards) denoted for different categories of passengers.

Blue token  - with the value of  10 tetri is used only for the socially vulnerable people, who are registered in the relevant state data base and are granted less than  70.000 scores, such tokens will be issued at the cash office only on the basis of submitting the relevant certificates.

Red tokens - with the value of  20 tetri is used only for the students and will be issued in case of submitted a student’s card at the cash office.

Orange tokens - with the value of 40 tetri is used for ordinary passengers (not getting the benefits).

A cashier shall not:

·     sell blue and/or red tokens to the persons getting the benefits in case of absence of the above mentioned document.

·     sell any token other than orange tokens to the ordinary passengers (not getting the benefits).
